This is meant to bring users passwords up to par with industry standards. The new password rules will require you to use at least 8 characters with at least one number and one upper case character. These changes are required for your protection and ours.

If you wish to be proactive please log in to Webmail and access the Settings page. Under the section Options you will find the form where you can change your password.

At some time in the future you may notice the KMTS Login page will require you to change your password if you have not updated it to the new standards.

A remarkable few weeks saw people rally around the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Community Foundation.

KMTS promised $1 for every person who clicked “Like” on the KMTS Facebook Page…and each dollar was destined to offset expenses at the LOTW Community Foundation. Kenora replied with a remarkable show of support and well over 1,000 Kenora Facebook fans clicked a mouse and kicked in a dollar.

Perhaps more importantly, as the offer was built for Facebook fans and by Facebook fans, is the amazing amount of exposure received by the Foundation. Kenora media outlets were especially gracious with time spent promoting the effort and specific time allocated for interviews and updates on their own social media sites.

The Lake of the Woods Concert Group has released it’s line-up for the upcoming season! KMTS is proud to support an amazing group of people committed to bringing world-class talent to a stage in Kenora.

This year’s concert line-up features a range to satisfy literally every taste…from Symphonic giants…to pop superstars. We’re looking forward to another terrific series of shows.

Here’s the lineup:

Dr. Zoo

September 16th -Afro-Celtic Rock and Storytelling – a fusion of African and Celtic music and rhythms: Paul Simon Graceland meets The Pogues at a Newfoundland Kitchen Party! Nominated 2009 ECMA World Recording of the year.

Ang Li

October 12th -A special all Liszt program to celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birth. Ang Li, ranked among the top 30 pianists in the world by The 2009 Cliburn Competition, has appeared at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York, National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Ruïnekerk of Bergen in the Netherlands, National Center for the Performing Arts in China.

The Good Lovelies

October 25th – Funny and upbeat, with just a pinch of sass, the Good Lovelies’ textbook three-part harmonies, constant instrument swapping and witty on-stage banter have enlivened the folk music landscape since they joined forces in 2006 for their first show at Toronto’s funky Gladstone Hotel.

Crash Test Dummies

November 18th – There is no mistaking Brad Roberts’ voice. He may look like an average guy, now in his mid- 40s, but then he opens his mouth and his majestic baritone voice immediately conjures fond memories of such Crash Test Dummies hits at “Mmm, Mmm, Mmm, Mmm” and “Superman.” Perhaps best remembered for the acerbic folk rock sound of 1991′s The Ghosts That Haunt Me and 1993′s God Shuffled His Feet, there have nonetheless been enough hits for the band over the years to merit a couple of greatest hits packages. Through it all, the band with Roberts at the helm has touched on funk and soul, folk, electronic music and even Christmas tunes. Yet it is Roberts’ voice and offbeat lyrical sensibility that have been this beloved band’s calling cards since their founding twenty years ago.

Oh My Darling

January 17th – With a sweet name and even sweeter sound, Oh My Darling conjures up the right mix of emotion and elation with their unique brand of country. Their prairie roots mixed with bluegrass, Appalachian old time, southern twang, and Franco-folk, makes their style a melting pot of musical languages. Infused with dynamic vocals, brilliant claw-hammer banjo, inspired fiddling, and grooving bass, their music will get your hips swinging, toes tapping, and put your heart right into their hands.

Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra

February 14th

Manitoba Theatre Centre

February 24th – The Melville Boys by Norm Foster

Arrogant Worms

April 20th – As the best music ages, its complexity increases, reaching towards an elusive, near mystical peak, with bitterness yielding to a soft, mellow perfection. The Arrogant Worms have been aged 20 years and on “Hindsight 20/20″, we are treated to the finest of the Château des Worms. Worth it for the dance remix of “The Last Saskatchewan Pirate” alone. Old wine in new bottles? Yes please.

At writing this, we’re at approximately 800 followers…and we’re going all out for the next week and a half. We’ve agreed to double the ante to $1 for everyone that follows along! We’re into the final days and we’ll count ‘em up up at noon on Thursday, June 23rd.

Here’s how the press release reads:

Kenora– A recent KMTS initiative to raise awareness and funds for the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation is to receive a shot in the arm. Since the beginning of June, KMTS (a division of Bell Aliant) has committed 50 cents to the Foundation for every KMTS Facebook follower. With ten days remaining, KMTS will double the amount destined to the Foundation.

Doug Anderson (KMTS) offers, “We’ll wrap up the KMTS Facebook fundraiser on Thursday, June 23rd at noon and we wanted to be sure we covered all the bases and presented every opportunity for the Foundation to gather the greatest possible benefit”. As a result, every person who “LIKES” or follows KMTS on Facebook (www.facebook.com/1KMTS), the Foundation will receive one dollar. “We need 2,500 to click “LIKE” on the KMTS Facebook page. It’s a simple way for people across the region to support the Foundation and the dozens of charities and community we support. Every little bit helps!” says Darlene McGillivray (Executive Director of the Community Foundation). KMTS has made provisions to compensate the Foundation for up to 2500 KMTS Facebook followers.

The Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation is a volunteer driven, public foundation, which accepts donations and builds endowment funds – creating a nest egg that will always be there for the community. The investment income earned on the funds is granted to local registered charities that enhance the quality of life, in line with the donors’ wishes. Our catchment area includes the City of Kenora and the neighbouring communities of Reddit, Minaki, Sioux Narrows- Nestor Falls, the First Nations Territories and the unincorporated territories surrounding Lake of the Woods. Since 2004, thanks to our generous donors, $2.3 million has been contributed to our endowment funds and $679,000 has been granted to over sixty different local charities.

Because the Community Foundation supports all kinds of charities- not just one sector or issue area – we are well positioned to bring diverse voices together to address local issues. Together we build networks, we collaborate; we build community: Building Forever…Together

Our goal is to reach to a maximum of 5,000 KMTS followers to gain the most benefit possible” says Darlene MacGillivray, Executive Director of the Foundation. Doug Anderson (KMTS) adds, “In a few short years, the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation has become a fundamental piece that defines the quality of life we enjoy in Kenora and KMTS is proud to assist the efforts of the Foundation and the dozens of community groups they support”. The KMTS Facebook page can be found through the links at KMTS.ca.

Earlier this year, KMTS provided a significant gift to the Community Foundation by featuring the organization on the inside back cover of the 2011 Kenora Telephone Directory, with 18,000 copies in year long circulation. In addition, KMTS partnered with the Community Foundation in the distribution of the telephone directories at the Lake of the Woods District Property Owners’ Show in Winnipeg in early May. “These are very significant gifts to us says,” says Community Foundation president Don Parfitt. ”KMTS has been a major sponsor of our fundraising events in past years, but these contributions will help us grow our endowments and continue to develop our grant-making programs for the benefit of individuals in the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Region. KMTS continues to provide us the opportunity for maximum exposure in our region and beyond.”

Working with the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundations, KMTS is pleased to make the 2011 Telephone Directories to patrons of the upcoming LOWDPOA Trade Show. A limited number of the books will be available at the Lake of the Woods Foundation booth and show visitors are invited to visit with the Foundation volunteers, learn about the many different ways the Foundation benefits our city and, hopefully, find a path to supporting the Foundation’s efforts.
