Mac OS X Dial-up Setup

1. Under the Apple menu, select “System Preferences”.

2. This will open the System Preferences window. This is where you make most changes on your system. The next step for setting up your dial-up is to click on the Network icon (Pictured above).

3. This will open up the Network Control Panel. This is used to configure any connections to the internet or other machines.
4. Click on the Location pull down menu and select New Location.
5. Next you will be prompted to name the new location. Just name it KMTS and click OK.
6. Next you will want to move to the Configure: pull down in the TCP/IP window (shown below). On this pull down menu you will select Using PPP.

7. You only need to put two things in the screen in front of you, add kmts.ca to the “Search Domains” box, and in the Domain name Servers box put in 69.26.64.254 then hit apply at the bottom right.
8. Now click on the tab labeled “PPP” (Picture above).
9. In service provider type in kmts, in the Telephone number area enter the phone number 467-5600. If you have call waiting, you can disable it while you are online by putting *70 (example *70,467-5600), this will prevent you from getting disconnected when people call you.
10. Now enter your “User name”, for example if your e-mail address is jdoe@kmts.ca then your user name is jdoe. Ensure that you are not using capitals or spaces.
11. Now click in the field that says “Password”. This is the password that you have selected when you set-up your account.
12. Now hit “Apply” at the bottom right, reboot your computer and when you get back to your desktop, double click on Internet Explorer (or whatever browser you choose to use), and it should begin dialing for you, or select the dial option when prompted.
